Baysgarth School invests in advanced IT infrastructure from PrimaryTec

Baysgarth School in Barton, North Lincolnshire, has recently invested in a new IT infrastructure and ongoing IT support from Hull-based education technology experts PrimaryTec.

Designed to improve IT security, safety and usability, the investment will help pupils and teachers to make the most of the school’s existing technology. It will also provide a strong platform for the future development of IT and integration of technology at the school.

The infrastructure improvements were completed over summer, to minimise disruption and ensure that the network was ready for the new school year. It has been designed so that it can be easily migrated to Baysgarth’s new school premises once complete.

As part of the partnership, PrimaryTec installed an advanced fibre and networking infrastructure, and reconfigured all the PCs in the school, providing a consistent software platform across all the computers. The company also configured remote access for teachers, so teachers can gain secure access to the school servers from anywhere, allowing for home working.

Karla Bassindale, Business Manager at Baysgarth School, talks about the benefits of the investment: “As a specialist technology college, we’re always looking for ways to raise standards in IT, and how we can invest in the right technology to improve classroom learning, attainment levels and pupil safety across the school. PrimaryTec have helped us to achieve more from our existing IT equipment, extending the lifespan of the hardware, and providing improved access to technology for both pupils and staff. It’s an exciting time at Baysgarth – we’re the most improved school in North Lincolnshire, and have just achieved the best exam results in our history. This investment in IT will help to support our continuing efforts to raise standards across the school.”

PrimaryTec has also been awarded the full ICT Support contract for Baysgarth School, and will manage the day-to-day systems support and curriculum, with 2 Technicians on site full-time.

Working with schools, academies and local educational authorities across the Humber region, PrimaryTec provides end-to-end IT and technology solutions, including supply, installation, configuration and ongoing support.

Helping schools to make better use of the latest technology, inside and outside the classroom, PrimaryTec aims to support the effective delivery of ICT in education.

As part of this, the company also runs a series of educational events across the Humber region, designed to help local schools get more from their IT spend, invest in the right technology, and effectively integrate technology into schools.
